Remember, even if a person has great mental prowess, he is a fool if he denies the fact that there is a God. This is not the "sour grapes" view of a simpleton. This is the revelation of God.
Psalms 14:1
1 ... The fool hath said in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
The person who believes in the Person, Nature, Word and Work of God has the highest form of knowledge, understanding and wisdom that exists.
Proverbs 9:10
10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
Just because a person is able to grasp complex concepts does not mean they can comprehend basic spiritual truths.
1 Corinthians 2:14
14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
Transforming Grace
* We are born with a Human Nature, from God (body, soul and spirit), but we also have a Sinful Nature (the Old Man), inherited from Adam, corrupted, defiled and prone to sin.
* At our salvation we receive a New (a Divine) nature (the New Man), created in the image of God, to be conformed to the image of Jesus, with the ability and desire to do good works.
* As converted (born-again) children of God, we then have a Human Nature, Sinful Nature and Divine Nature.
* The New Man and the Old Man, with their opposing propensities, and attitudes influence our Human Nature for godliness or worldliness.
* Our Human Nature, enabled by God's grace, is able to choose or resist Christ.
* Choosing faith in Christ is salvation, rejecting Christ is sin.
* Salvation requires the sinning person to believe, repent, confess our sins and to confess our faith in Christ.
* Faithful believers come to understand that their Old Man is detrimental to their relationship with God, and the also realize that God has provided deliverance from the inner battle.
* Total surrender and death to the Old Man receives the purifying infilling of the Holy Spirit.
* Daily following Christ is salvation from daily sinning.
Being of One Mind with God.
* God provides for us to be transformed and then conformed to the image of His Son.
* Being conformed to the image of Jesus includes receiving the mind of Christ.
* We keep the mind of Christ as we walk faithfully, bringing every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.
